In what seemed to have been a surprise to many in attendance, Mark Zuckerberg married his longtime girlfriend Priscilla Chan at a small wedding in their backyard today. According to People, “Guests thought they were coming over for a surprise party to celebrate Chan’s graduation from UCSF medical school” but apparently Zuckerberg and Chan had been planning the wedding for more than four months.

This comes a day after Facebook went public so you have got to believe that there was some serious pre-nup work involved for both sides before the ceremony. The couple have been dating for almost a decade, so the challenges associated with marrying one of the richest men in the world was probably something both had long considered. Insert jokes here about his new Facebook status.

The surprising move came just a day after Facebook went public through one of the largest initial public offerings and its shares began trading on the Nasdaq.

Zuckerberg wrote about the big event in his life on his Facebook timeline, with a status update that read, “Married Priscilla Chan” on May 19.

The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg’s backyard at his Palo Alto home in California before fewer than 100 guests on Saturday. An accompanying picture shows a smiling Zuckerberg dressed in a simple dark blue suit, white shirt and wearing a tie. Chan is in an elegant sleeveless laced white wedding gown with a veil falling over her shoulders. A string of bulbs are hung in the background which is Zuckerberg’s backyard.

The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years. Chan’s Facebook page also had the updated relationship status with the message “married to Mark Zuckerberg.”

The marriage capped an extremely eventful week for the couple. Zuckerberg celebrated his 28th birthday on Monday, May 14. Days later Facebook, which was founded by Zuckerberg in 2004 in his Harvard dorm, became went public through an IPO that pegged the value of the world’s most popular social network site at 104 billion dollars.

The same week Chan graduated from the University of California, San Francisco. Chan studied medicine and is now a doctor of pediatrician. On her graduation day, Zuckerberg had written on his Facebook page, “I am so proud of you Dr Chan.”

The couple met at Harvard and have been together for more than nine years.
A source authorized by the couple to speak said Zuckerberg designed the ring featuring “a very simple ruby.”
The ceremony took place in Zuckerberg’s backyard before fewer than 100 guests, who all thought they were there to celebrate Chan’s graduation.
Even after the IPO, Zuckerberg remains Facebook’s single largest shareholder, with 503.6 million shares. And he controls the company with 56 percent of its voting stock.
The site, which was born in a dorm room eight years ago, has grown into a worldwide network of almost a billion people.

Zuckerberg founded Facebook at Harvard in 2004.

He was named as Time’s Person of the Year in 2010, at age 26.

After his phenomenal hit song and homemade MV, Jeremy Liu is the most wanted star on variety shows. On the 19th, the star went to the recording of the popular music game show Million Singer to test his memorization skills for lyrics. However, he was constantly lagging behind on the music, as well as not knowing the lyrics. It was impossible for him to make it pass first round, but since Jeremy’s singing was highly anticipated, the show made a one-time exception and allowed him to try again three times. He finally succeeded with singing host Harlem Yu’s classic Meteor Garden opening theme song,  (Can’t Help Falling For You). Harlem embraced his special guest Huang Guo-Lun in joy and said, “From the start of the recording till now, I am the most touched at this moment!”

Jeremy had to ask Harlem for help in reading the song titles as he didn’t know any of the words. Feeling helpless due to his poor Chinese, Jeremy asked, “Can I admit defeat?” But the audience immediately teased him by singing the first verse of his hit single, “The words give up don’t exist in my dictionary~”. When Harlem pointed to his own name “Yu Cheng-Ching” and asked Jeremy how to read it, Jeremy made an attempt and said, “Geng Shui-Fa”. Harlem broke into tears, “This guy comes on my show but he doesn’t even recognize my name!”

Jeremy managed to get through four stages and took home six-thousand dollars (NT). Although netizens criticized his monotone singing in his latest single, (Thinking of you), he was much more relaxed while singing on the show. Special guest and Super Idol judge Huang Guo-Lun commented that Jeremy is good at imitating the original singers. Thus, he pointed out that Jeremy must have been affected by his father Liu Jia-Chiang’s demo when singing “Thinking Of You” as he seemed to have carried a Shandong accent in it.
